Dr. Ives received a BA and MA from the University of Maryland at College Park and a PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana. In 1977 she joined the Department of Geography and Earth Sciences at UNC Charlotte. Since 2001 she has been actively involved in faculty support in teaching and learning as founding Director of the Faculty Center for Teaching which was quickly also given responsibilities for supporting faculty in the use of technology for teaching and learning. In July 1, 2002 the expanded Faculty Center for Teaching and e-Learning opened its doors.
