The UNC Teaching and Learning with Technology Conference has a history dating back to 2000, when a conference for TLT center directors and instructional technology staff was held at Appalachian State University to help define the role of the newly formed TLT Collaborative. With the addition of faculty, library professionals, and representatives from academic and continuing education programs in 2001, the focus of the event shifted to community building and professional development. In 2002, the UNC Faculty Assembly joined the TLT Collaborative as a co-sponsor, which significantly increased the number of faculty attending the conference. The 2003 conference included several new elements: a pre-conference seminar, poster sessions, and corporate sponsorship. For 2004, demonstrations were added, interest group activities became more prominent, and workshops were offered daily. 2005 brought new ways of sharing information about the conference, including weblogs and podcasts. In 2006, presenters and participants were able to communicate through the newly established Collaborative Café and conference proceedings.
