UNC TLT Conference Participant Orientations

These sessions are designed to provide attendees, presenters and volunteers the skills needed to get the most out of the conference. The Presenting in Second Life session is required for all presenters using the main NC WebIEE conference location for regular presentations or poster sessions.

Introduction to Second Life for Participants: This session gives you the skills you will need to navigate and communicate during the conference. Free professional clothing and other items provided. NOTE: this session is strongly suggested for new users but also able to be taken as a self-guided tutorial at the location below:

Presenting in Second Life: This hands-on session shows you how to use our free presenter equipment, and also how to place your presentation items at the conference location. Easy to use presentation equipment provided. NOTE: This session is required for those presenting on NC WebIEE sims or using the presenter resources we provide; others please see below.*

*Note*: If you are presenting outside our primary conference location, we will need the “slurl” (Second Life URL) to your presentation location. The slurl can be created by standing near the presentation area, opening the Map in SL, and clicking “Copy Slurl”, which can then be pasted into a document. This clickable link will be posted on our website and usable by attendees interested in coming to your session. Please send the slurl to unctltconference@gmail.com. You (or your support staff) are responsible for ensuring that your off-site presentation location is capable of holding at least 50 avatars (i.e. must be a full sim instead of Homestead) and that voice is enabled on the parcel.
