What Is Wimba Pronto?
An Academic Instant Messaging System
Wimba Pronto is the only instant messaging system designed for educators to advance and promote learning. Wimba Pronto includes unique features to specifically benefit students, teachers, and educational institutions including:
• Instant Access to Campus Services
• Queued Chat for Tutoring and Office Hours
• Automatic Population of Classmates and Courses
• Application Sharing
• Blended Audio and Video Conferencing
• Instant Institution-Wide Notifications
• Universal Accessibility
• Spanish Language Preference
How Do I Access Wimba Pronto?
First, you will setup your Pronto account. You will only need to do this once. If you already have a Pronto account, see instructions
1) Login into Moodle at http://moodle-demo.wimba.com/login/index.php
Username: your email address (Omit Underscores in Email Address)
Password: wimba
2) Under My Courses click TLT Conference – TLT Conference Participants – Wimba Pronto
3) Under Download Instructions click Register and Download Wimba Pronto!
4) Follow instructions to create your Pronto account. If you already use Wimba Pronto, skip to #5
a) Create a Wimba Pronto Account
b) Retrieve Activation Email
c) Download and Install Wimba Pronto
5) If you already have a Wimba Pronto account click Already a Wimba Pronto user? from the Wimba Pronto Sign Up page.
a) Enter your existing Pronto ID
b) Enter your existing Pronto Password
LAUNCH PRONTO from your Desktop or Taskbar and LOG IN!
TIPS: When you launch Pronto, you may set Pronto to remember your username and password automatically from the login screen. You may also set Pronto to sign-in automatically.
TIPS: In Pronto click Pronto in the top menu bar > Select Preferences > Under Sign In
• Click the checkbox Start Pronto when my computer starts to launch Pronto automatically
• Click the checkbox Sign me in when Pronto starts to sign in automatically
