Lucy Haagen teaches service learning classes in literacy and ESL in the Education Program at Duke. She is especially interested in the "gap-closing" potential of affordable technologies used with low-income students in the United States and in developing countries.

Richard Hartshorne is currently an Assistant Professor of Instructional Systems Technology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. While at UNCC, Dr. Hartshorne has served in various teaching, research, and service capacities addressing innovative and effective methods of integrating technology into various aspects of the higher education and the K-12 environment. His current research interests include the production and effective integration of emerging technologies into the teaching and learning environment.

Bobby Hobgood manages the development of online world languages courses in Mandarin, Arabic, and Japanese for LEARN NC. He also coordinates teacher training and works to build partnerships with other educational organizations. A former high school French teacher, he has conducted workshops on the integration of technology into the foreign language classroom. He holds an M.A.T. in French from the School for International Training and an Ed.D. in curriculum and instruction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Bobby''''s dissertation research focused on high school students'''' perceptions of motivation, enjoyment, and learning from online discussions in online courses. His research interests include technology integration, online learning, global education, and culturally responsive teaching.
